Employees of Cardiology Research Institute

Cardiology Research Institute has a unique team of accomplished professionals with high integrity, competence, heritage, and dedication contributing to cardiac science and care. Over 1000 specialists are currently working in the Cardiology Research Institute. 40,000 visitors receive specialized help from highly skilled cardiologists in the outpatient facilities of Cardiology Research Institute annually

Clinic of Cardiology Research Institute

Designed for accommodation of 430 patients, the Clinic of Cardiology Research Institute provides medical counseling, diagnostics, and treatment for residents of Siberia, Far East, and Russia’s neighboring states. High tech medical help is covered by the federal budget. 10,000 patients receive specialized inpatient cardiac care annually. About 2,000 surgical interventions with cardiopulmonary bypass are performed annually. The Clinic is involved in:

  • High tech medical treatments for patients with heart and blood vessel disorders.
  • Development and implementation of new diagnostic and treatment modalities for atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, acute myocardial infarction, arterial hypertension, and heart failure.
  • Development of innovation approaches for reconstructive surgery of the heart and great vessels.
  • Treatment of heart rhythm disorders in children and adults.
The Clinic has excellent laboratory facilities including state-of-the-art MRI and CT imaging, radionuclide imaging systems, advanced ultrasonic equipment, ECG machines, modern angiographic complexes, and other equipment for diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases.
Except heart transplantation, all types of cardiac surgery can be performed here.
Being among a few medical centers in Russia, the Clinic successfully performs surgeries of the complex congenital heart defects in infants. Endovascular treatment of congenital heart defects is now possible in little patients starting from the age of ne week. Being among the first in the country, the specialists of Cardiology Research Institute deliver surgery for correction of transposition of the great vessels in neonates.
The Clinic has accumulated unique research and clinical data on cardiac pacing combined with cellular cardiomyoplasty. The first in the world, open heart surgery for maze procedure with radiofrequency atrial fragmentation combined with the correction of congenital and acquired heart diseases was performed here.
The Supervision Service for Healthсare and Social Development approved implementation of dozens of novel medical technologies such as endovascular closure of patent ductus arteriosus, cardioverter defibrillator implantation, catheter ablation, direct myocardial revascularization (coronary by-pass surgery), and ventricular aneurysm resection.

Our team is currently looking for 2017-2021 cooperation in the following research directions:

  1. Biomedical support of high performance sport. Studying the risk factors and methods for prevention of sudden cardiac death in elite athletes and in young sports players.
  2. Developing and testing the nanoparticle-based drug-eluting vascular stents for the treatment of atherosclerosis.
  3. Testing and marketing the ECG-EXPRESS telecardiology device.
  4. Studying the clinical and morphological characteristics of chronic inflammation in the myocardium of patients with decompensated heart failure and ischemic systolic dysfunction. The study will test the hypothesis that the presence of inflammatory reaction heterogeneity in cardiac tissue is associated with inefficacy of anti-inflammatory and neurohumoral treatment strategies aimed at preventing decompensation of chronic heart failure syndrome in coronary artery disease patients who underwent revascularization procedure.
  5. Studying the neuroprotective and cardioprotective properties of stress-activated JNK inhibitors and TRP channel modulators.
  6. Elucidating the cellular and molecular mechanisms of abnormal platelet hemostasis in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 comorbid with arterial hypertension. The project will aim at evaluating the effects of ROS, anti-inflammatory cytokines, and insulin on platelet aggregation activity in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 comorbid with arterial hypertension. Comprehensive evaluation of platelet hemostasis will allow for determination of the role of intracellular signaling systems in the mechanisms of abnormal platelet aggregation activity in these patients.
  7. Studying genetic polymorphisms associated with the risk of thrombophilia in acute coronary syndrome in patients with nonobstructive coronary artery disease. The project will determine significance of genetic polymorphisms linked to the risk f thrombophilia in these patients.

  14. Studying the role of serotonergic innervation in contractile and electrical functions of the smooth muscle cells. The project will test the hypothesis that serotonergic nervous system is a previously unrecognized branch of autonomic nervous system along with sympathetic and parasympathetic branches. The hypothesis is based on the discovery of abundant serotonergic nervous fibers in the sympathetic trunk in experimental animals.
