Brief Biography

Bokhan Nikolay A., Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (2011), Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2014), academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2016), Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation (2004), MD (1996), Professor (1999). He graduated with honors from the Medical Faculty of the Altai State Medical Institute (1982) and internship in "Psychiatry" (1983), worked as a psychiatrist at the Altai Regional Clinical Psychiatric Hospital. From 1984 to 1986 he passed an active service in Armed forces of the USSR as a neuropsychiatrist. From 1986 to 1988 he studied in clinical internship in "Psychiatry" at the Department of Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry of Kazan State Institute for Advanced Training of Doctors. From 1989 to 1997 he directed the scientific department of clinical and social addiction psychiatry of Mental Health Research Institute. From 1997 to 2013 worked as the Deputy Director for Scientific Work, since 2013 he is appointed the director of Mental Health Research Institute and works as a research supervisor of Addictive States Department part-time. Since 2015 he is Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of Siberian State Medical University of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation (part-time). He has the highest qualification categories and certificates in the specialties "Psychiatry Narcology", "Psychiatry", "Psychotherapy", "Organization of Health Care and Public Health". 

Research Interests

Mental disorders and diseases of dependence, alcoholism, drug addiction, comorbidity of mental, somato-neurologic and addictive disorders, innovative technologies of therapy and rehabilitation of patients with mental disorders and disorders of dependence, biological psychiatry, molecular biology and genetics, psychophysiological and immune-biochemical predictors of formation of pathological craving for  psychoactive substances.
